11/07/2011 - SHENLEY RECORD MASTERFUL WIN!

Willen CC - 180 LOST TO
Shenley Church End CC - 181-4 by 6 wickets

So it came to the day of Willen away on a nice sunday afternoon, with boris arriving late fletch arrived just dropping off the scorebook and volunteered to field til boris got there. With Bobby winning the toss and selecting to field due to the lack of bowlers in our ranks.

Bobby himself opened the bowling with CHICKY, yes Chicky! They got to 10 overs for 70 or so without loss bobby then picked up 2 wickets in the same over to bring Shenley in with a glimmer of hope, after that things really changed as the change of bowling done the trick with Kieran one end and Ian the other they really brought the game back for Shenley.

Kieran finished with 10-1-40-3 as he reigned in there opening batsmen who was flying early doors and then claimed his wicket in his final over and then 2 balls later got another one which he deserved after bowling very well!

With The Chairman bowling the other end his dazzling spin picked up 3 wickets himself one of which was a great catch in the deep by Kieran, Derek Rose picked up his first 2 wickets for the club to wrap up the tail and Willen finished their innings 180 all out with 5 overs left!!

Shenleys Innings:

Boris opening the batting with Simon Pugh was a joy to watch as both batted superbly with Boris scoring more of the runs in there 90 run partnership with Boris falling after being bowled in the 22nd over for a well-played 54 and we were doing well and getting towards the 181 needed a few overs later SIMON fell after chopping on for 39!

With 2 new batsmen at the crease Willen brought themselves back into the game and pushing the run rate up higher and higher Tim then fell for a duck which brought BABYLON to the crease with no defence in his locker he went on the attack from the off, MR. BOMB joined Babylon on the attack after hitting a monstrous six with the "railway sleeper" he then found the one man in the deep who jump with one hand then juggled with then keeping hold of it and very unlucky for DAVE and going back in the hut for 20.

With Paul Backhouse scheduled to come in at 6 the skipper took it upon himself to jump in front of him and went on the attack with a 4 from his 1st ball. With 6 an over required in the last 9 overs Babylon and Bobby batted through and with 6 overs left Babylon hit 18 off the opening bowler who was back in the attack!! With 12 needed from the last 5 overs Bobby decided enough was enough and hit 2 big sixes and finishing the game in style!!!

With the game played in good spirit and went from side to side with who was going to win was a great win for Shenley and to get that winning feeling back was amazing for all and the relief was felt around everyone! Congratulations to all and well done this should get good vibes through all the club and bring on this weekend!!

COME ON SHENLEY!!!! YOU SUUUUPPPPPPEEEERRRRRRR!!!
