A long time ago in a galaxy far far away (last Saturday at Cranfield University), A group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker (Richard Fletcher) had established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth, (......erm the changing rooms maybe?).
This group of brave rebels were coming on the back of a disheartening defeat at the hands of the powerful Old Bradwell and needed a strong reply to get back to winning ways. The evil Galactic empire of Cranfield were in the field to start with so Shenley knew they had to get off to a solid start to provide a platform for the big hitters to flourish.
The score had reached 38 before the first wicket fell, Homer trapped infront, though Hawkeye suggested otherwise. This brought to the crease the mighty Han Solo (Bokka) and slowly but surely he and Colin (C3PO) kept the innings ticking along nicely, but a tremor in the force with the score on 81 led to solo being trapped PLUMB!!!! in front LBW.
This then brought the young Skywalker (Richard) to the wicket. After a slow start Skywalker soon ahd his lightsaber smashing the ball to all parts of the rather large outfield, both Skywalker and C3PO reached 50 without trouble, before the brave Skywalker perished on 70 bravely trying to give the Rebels a defendable total.
This now brought Boris into the middle (Jabba the hut) with a couple of nice shots picked up a quick 11 before being bowled. Shaun (R2-D2?) then joined the Stalwart of the innings Colin for the last couple of overs before Colin was unluckily cleaned bowled, and so it was Shiv (LAndo) and Shaun who ended up at the crease as Shenley ended up on a respectable 237-5.
Jay (Jar Jar Binks) opened the bowling alongside Skywalker, the latter removing one of the openers for a nice quack. Slowly Cranfield worked the 1s and 2s until the mighty Teagle (chewbacca) came on to bowl, alongside Shiv and Sid (Ewok maybe?) the wickets started to fall. With some sharp fielding from Siddy and tight bowling from the impressive chewwy, the empire slumped to a disappointing 145 all out.
Huge celebrations were sparked right the way across the galaxy as the young freedom fighters restored order.........THE END.
